An Evening of Celebration
Let your light shine! Join Sunbeam Family Services in lighting the way for Central Oklahomans at the 11th annual Shine a Light event, with honorary chairs Gail and Gary Huneryager. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and inspiring stories of hope on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The reception begins at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m.
At Shine, we will also celebrate 2025 Aspire Award Recipient Dr. Marny Dunlap for her dedication to helping build brighter futures with all children and families in Central Oklahoma.
Working together, we can “Shine a Light” on the needs of our community and help even more children and families find their light. Your generosity prepares babies and toddlers for school and life success through early care and education; and provide wraparound support with mental health services and connection to resources.
Dr. Dunlap is a Professor of Pediatrics and Section Chief for the Section of General and Community Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC).
Dr. Dunlap serves in many leadership roles. She is the President for the Oklahoma American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Chapter. Dr. Dunlap also serves as the Oklahoma State Department of Health Child and Adolescent Health Medical Director.
She is on multiple national Reach Out and Read committees, including the Curriculum Development Working Group, the Litnet 2.0 Steering Committee, and the Medical Advisory Committee.
As the OUHSC Pediatric Advocacy Program Director she is responsible for development of the advocacy curriculum for the Department of Pediatrics. To promote advocacy training education to the next generation of healthcare professionals, Dr. Dunlap has established key partnerships with over 18 different community organizations, including Sunbeam. She also serves as the Medical Director for Super Niños Pediatrics, a community-based pediatric clinic serving a predominantly Hispanic population.
With over twenty years of experience in academic pediatric medicine, Dr. Dunlap’s passion continues to be early childhood advocacy.

Megan Gold, News 9
Megan Gold can be seen weekend mornings on News On 6. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Megan knows just how important the weather is to Oklahomans. The “weather bug” bit her at just six years old. While most kids watched cartoons on the weekends, Megan would tune in to local tv to watch the weather. She has wanted to be a meteorologist ever since.
Megan comes to us from the University of Oklahoma where she studied meteorology and broadcast journalism. While attending OU, she was involved in OU Nightly, the university’s student-produced daily newscast. She helped lead the weather team and worked behind the scenes in the show production.
Volunteering and giving back to the community have always been important to Megan. While at OU, she served her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, as VP of Philanthropy and held positions in Soonerthon and President’s Community Scholars. But the cause nearest and dearest to her heart is championing young students to become involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) studies. During the past couple of years, she has held the titles of Miss Tulsa and Miss Bricktown in the Miss Oklahoma Organization.
Megan landed her first job as a part-time meteorologist in Denison, Texas when she was just a sophomore in college. She gained experience forecasting everything from hurricanes to winter weather for Southeastern Oklahoma and Northeast Texas. Her second job took her to Springfield, Mo. where she gained even more experience forecasting weather for the Plains. Megan made the move back to her home State of Oklahoma with our sister station, News on 6, in Tulsa. Now Megan is excited to head down the turnpike to Oklahoma City with the News 9 team! You can catch her covering weather and traffic weekday mornings.
