An Evening of Celebration
Let your light shine! Join Sunbeam Family Services in lighting the way for Central Oklahomans at the 10th annual Shine a Light event, chaired by Jessica Gilmore. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and inspiring stories of hope on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The reception begins at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m.
At Shine, we will also celebrate 2024 Aspire Award Recipient Bob Harbison for his dedication to helping build brighter futures with all children and families in Central Oklahoma.
Working together, we can “Shine a Light” on the needs of our community and help even more children and families find their light. Your generosity prepares babies and toddlers for school and life success through early care and education; provides safe, loving homes for children in foster care; connects grandfamilies with much-needed resources; and supports Oklahoman’s mental health and well-being.

2024 Aspire Award Recipient
Robert "Bob" Harbison
Harbison retired early to pursue his interest in non-profit activities and has spent the last 28 years (nearly all as a volunteer) on early childhood activities. In late 1991, he assisted in the founding of The Tulsa Children's Coalition (TCC), along with Tulsa's Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Tulsa Public Schools. The Coalition established programs for young children and their families to improve school readiness/success in neighborhoods of low-income elementary schools. Bob served as Exec Director for 6 years. TCC became a United Way Agency in second year and Bob became involved in state-wide early childhood efforts. For the past 15 years, he has worked mostly in OKC in work related to Sunbeam, The Inasmuch Foundation, and state-wide activities. He was on the Board and Treasurer in the creation of OKC Educare (now a part of Sunbeam) and was on the Sunbeam Board for 6 years and Treasurer the last two years. Sunbeam’s Harbison Early Education and Kiwanis Community Center is named after Bob and his wife Jean to celebrate their dedication to supporting early childhood education and families in our community.
Bob Has B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Kansas related to financial management and use of quantitative methods. He taught full-time for two years in KU's Business School.
